Using Email Marketing to promote your Affiliate Products

Email marketing can be one of the most effective methods to
promote affiliate products, IF
* You've already built an opt-in email list, and
* You've already established your credibility with your
subscribers

In fact, I'm such a big believer in promoting affiliate products
through e-mail that I've written and tested many different
e-mail campaigns over the past few years.

The key to successful e-mail content is to imagine that you
are writing the letter to one friend, rather than a large group
of customers who are all strangers to you. Writing with a
single person in mind will help you avoid writing that's
too stiff and formal, and make sure your claims are not
overstated.

Here are seven simple steps to write effective content for
e-mail promotions :

1. Keep it personal: Write your letter as though you were
sending it to a close personal friend. This is one of the best
ways to guarantee that you avoid any exaggeration or hype
that will scare away interested potential customers.

2. Tell them "Why": If you believe that you’re recommending
a good product that your readers will benefit from, tell them.
Be specific about why you think it’s such a great product and
how they stand to benefit from checking it out!

3. Be honest and real: If you’ve had personal experience with
the product, then let your customers and subscribers know
how you’ve personally benefited from it. Results speak for
themselves.

4. Be knowledgeable: If you don’t have personal experience
using the product, familiarize yourself with it by taking a few
minutes to read the product information. Think about how it
will benefit your customers and subscribers, and express
this in your letter.

5. Keep it short: An effective e-mail shouldn’t be any more
than a page and a half. Remember that your job is to get the
reader to click through your affiliate link to the product
information page with full details.

6. Keep it simple: Don't fall into the trap of trying to fill
your letter with big words and complicated sentences to
make it sound more 'official'. That kind of language is a
surefire way to turn people off. Think about what you want
to say in your letter, then imagine that you're sitting down
with a friend and telling them these things in a casual
conversation. That's the tone you want to capture.

7. Test it! Before you e-mail the letter to your entire opt-in
e-mail list, consider e-mailing it to a test group to gauge the
response. If the results aren't what you hoped, you can
always go back and 'tweak' it before you send it out to
everyone.

Psychological Desires in Affiliate Marketing

Have you ever tried inserting some psychological desires
into your affiliate marketing campaigns to see if they help
to improve sales conversions?
"Campaigns" can be :
-When you write or prepare your ads
-Writing your articles if you use Article Marketing
-Creating your affiliate sales pages or websites
-Writing your newsletters for Email Marketing

I've been testing all of them over the past 18 months and
actually seen some significant improvement in my affiliate
sales, especially in my Email Marketing campaigns!

Here are a few tips :
1. Make your ordering instructions simple and easy to
understand - because most people want life to be easier.
2. People want to feel secure and safe. So, be sure to tell
your prospects that you have secure ordering system and
a privacy policy.
3. Use "invest in your product" instead of "buy your product".
Most people like the idea of "investing in their future".
4. Peple are curious about a lot of things. You can use words
like "Secret" or "Confidential" in your ads or writings.
5. Most people want the latest and newest things in life.
You may use words and phrases in your ad copy like "New",
"Just Released", etc.
6. Most people want to solve their problems. Tell your
prospects what problems they have and how your product
can solve them.
7. Most people want to get over obstacles so they can
achieve their goals. Tell your prospects which goals they'll
achieve by ordering your product.
8.Give surprises because it's a change of pace from routine.
Tell your prospects that they'll get a surprise free bonus
from the order.

Quote of the Day:
"There are two ways of meeting difficulties: you alter
the difficulties or you alter yourself meeting them."

Blogging is one of the best internet marketing strategies

The Internet is constantly changing. As online marketers,
it's important for us to take advantage of the best internet
marketing strategies in order to stay ahead of the trend.
One of which is to start blogging!
Blogging has a huge impact on the way information is
presented, published, and consumed on the Internet.
It is also a huge opportunity for online marketers to earn
more money online!
Since 2005, I came to realize that a blog is also a great way
to keep in contact with my customers and fellow networkers,
and put a "human" face on my business. After all, it's unlikely
we'll ever have any face-to-face contact with our customers,
so showing them that we are a real person can be invaluable.
Tips and strategies to start your blog and turn it into a
traffic magnet:

First, you have to choose which blogging platforms you'll use.
Here are some choices :
Blogger.com - Google's blog platform, very easy to use.
You can have as many blogs as you wish, all free-of-charge.
I personally have several free Blogger blogs in different accounts
and usernames, for different purposes. This one which you're
now reading is a free Blogger blog.
Typepad.com -This one charges a small monthly fee and is a
bit more sophisticated than Blogger. Personally I've had no
experience with it but one of my blogger friends has been
using it for a while with full satisfaction.
Wordpress.org -This platform has been the no. one
choice for more advanced Internet users, as the software is
a bit more complex. Personally I'm setting up one at the
moment with my own domain and a reputable paid web-host
recommended by Wordpress. By the way, you can try out a
free Wordpress blog at Wordpress.com.

The next important strategy is to pick a name for your blog
that relates to your business as well as your top keyword as
far as possible.

And lastly, don't forget to post on your blog regularly (at least
a couple of times each week) for it to be valuable. People won't
keep coming back if there's nothing new to read!

Earn $20 million in 6 minutes-Imagine that!

I thought I'd share this with you...
Got a message from Perry Marshall this morning :
Stanley, This is worth your time, even as busy as
you are today. This one's a gem.
Included in the message is a link to a YouTube video clip.
Well, when Perry says it's a gem, it is a gem.

Here's the 6-minute video:
"Mister Rogers talks to the US senate"

So, what does it teach us?
Back in 1969, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting
(CPB) was in danger of getting their funding cut in half by
President Nixon because of war costs.
So CPB called in Mister Rogers to testify before the Senate
chaired by John O. Pastore.
In this video clip, Mister Rogers delivered an emotional 6-minute
pitch. You can see the effect he had on John O. Pastore who
was notoriously gruff and impatient.
His 6 minutes had convinced the Senate to change its earlier
decision--and it meant $20 million for CPB!
He succeeded NOT because of his well-written message but
the WAY he delivered his message...
Because he was disarmingly REAL!
It's so fundamental yet so effective - and there is no reason
for us to ignore it in any of our marketing effort, be it online
or offline.

Who is Mister Rogers, by the way?
If you live in USA or Canada you'd most probably know exactly
who Mister Rogers is.
Here's a short description of him:
Known as "America's favorite neighbor, " Fred Rogers dedicated
his life to serving children through public television as creator,
composer, writer, puppeteer, and host of "Mister Rogers
Neighborhood" . He studied at the University of Pittsburgh
Graduate School of Child Development and was ordained a
Presbyterian minister, with the unique charge of working with
children and families through television. Fred Rogers' relentless
commitment to all that is best in people led to an astonishing
array of honors, from induction into the Television Hall of
Fame to the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Fred Rogers
passed away in February 2003.
Fred Rogers spent his life learning about children and families.
His honest wisdom continues to offer special reassurance and
support to parents whose children are grown, to those raising
young ones, and to children of all ages.

Tips to start your eBay business

If you're interested to make money online with eBay, you must
first learn to understand how to calculate your profit margins-
-This is extremely crucial.
Luckily, figuring this out boils down to a very simple formula...
Determine :
1. Item Final Selling Price + Shipping and Handling Fee,
call this $X
2. Item Purchase Cost + eBay Listing Fees + eBay Final
Value Fees + PayPal or Credit Card Fees + Shipping Costs ,
call this $Y
Your Profit will be X minus Y
Now that you know how to figure out the profit margins of a
particular item, it's time to decide on a pricing strategy.
Will you sell high volumes of items with slim profit margins
or fewer high-profit items?
    * Sell high volumes of items with a low profit margin :
It is possible to make money online with eBay using this
strategy IF you sell enough items! You'll need to have
reliable suppliers and a method for staying on top of all
the extra work involved in listing lots of auctions and
    shipping lots of items.
    * Sell fewer items with a high profit margin :
But selling high-priced items on eBay can be more difficult
than selling items of lower value. For one thing, there's
often a smaller market for high-priced items. You need to
work harder to establish your credibility as a seller since
very few people will pay a high price for an item from an
    untrustworthy source.
Once you figure out your profit margins and pricing strategies,
you'll be able to source products with confidence and enjoy
fatter profit margins as you make money online with eBay!
If you're interested to start an eBay Auction business,
I can help...
At Internet Marketing Center (IMC, which is my primary
affiliate marketing business), we've just released our
brand-new eBay Training System :
"Insider Secrets to Selling on eBay"!

The good news is : You can get a test-drive of the system,
absolutely risk free for a full 30 days - for only 99 cents!
And the bad news? This offer is valid for the first 100 people

What to look for when choosing an affiliate program

Of course you may be tempted to pick the highest-paying
affiliate programs. But wait, there are more factors to consider
besides high commissions!

1. Is that product relevant to the "theme" of your site or blog?
Unrelated products on your site are extremely difficult to
market even if you've a highly successful site. They can even
make your site look unprofessional!

2. Does that product appeal to you personally? Or would you
use it yourself in the first place?

3. Do they have a good, compelling sales page in their affiliate
website that help you to convert visitors into sales?

4. How about a reliable tracking system that will credit you
for every sale? You'll definitely want affiliate programs that
have "cookies" encoded with your affiliate I.D. that are set
to last for a LONG TIME - at least a year or more. In this way
if they don't buy a product right away, you'll still get credited
for the referral when they do in the future, before those
"cookies" expire.

5. Do they provide you with marketing tools and resources to
promote their products? All good affiliate programs should
provide promotional tools like banner and text ads, email
promotions, and even informative articles because the amount
of money you can generate depends on how well you're able to
promote your products!

Picking a good affiliate program is not an easy task as it's
thought to be. It requires a lot of time to research before
making any decision. Research, research and research -
-This is the very FIRST step leading to a successful affiliate
marketing business.

Tip: Try and search for "top affiliate program directories" to
locate your "perfect" affiliate program(s). I'm listing 3 good
ones here for your reference:

A Tribute to Kevin Eric Anderson 1951-2007

Kevin Eric Anderson, passed away last Saturday afternoon,
August 11, 2007. He collapsed and passed away on his way
to his pool.
Kevin had been battling several illnesses in recent years,
including high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as
complications from an earlier bout with cancer in 1992.
Kevin Anderson was Founder of Cognigen Networks, Inc.
and Co-Founder of Leisure Audio Books.
His contributions to the internet world include:
- Writing the first affiliate system with the world's first
self-replicating affiliate page.
- Writing other codes, such as the one that integrates
personalization on splash pages in the traffic exchanges -
-- every time you see a splash page with your own name on it,
Kevin was the one to make that possible.
As a person, Kevin was an extraordinary person, a dynamically
amazing individual, a generous and thoroughly geniune soul,
would all be a vast understatement. In fact no words do him
justice. He was so gifted, so talented and yet so down-to-earth,
approachable and just plain friendly, that he will be sorely
missed by all those he touched.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Laurel, and their two daughters.
A friend and a mentor, Kevin will be sadly missed.

How To Monetize Low-traffic Blogs

According to Jim Kukral, Founder of BlogKits, former publisher
of ReveNews, as well as an award-winning blogger and online marketer...
- 99% of 50-70 million blogs in the blogosphere are low-traffic
blogs, with 100 or less daily visitors/readers.
- Adsense doesn't work for bloggers, yes, we know,
such a bold statement... But it's true!
1. Low-traffic blogs will never make more than pennies
per day
2. One sale from BlogKits could bring you a week's worth of
click $$$ from Adsense.

Here is an Interesting Tool found in the Blogkits site...
Take a look and check out what you can expect to earn from
Adsense per day.
Let me state my position clearly here :
First of all, I'm NOT 'anti-Adsense'.
Secondly, mine is a low-traffic blog. I'm in the process of
'testing out' Blogkits to see if it works for me.
I'll write a BlogKits Review after that.
However, I believe you can certainly do better with Bidvertiser
if you've a low-traffic blog.
Here's why :
Bidvertiser pays you as soon as your earning reaches the
minimum payment threshold of $10. Even if you only earn
$0.20 per day in average, you'll still be seeing your earning
in less than 2 months . In the case of Adsense, at $0.20 per
day will take you nearly 17 months to cash out !
This is because Adsense will only pay you when your total
earning exceeds $100!
You really ought to take a closer look at Bidvertiser -They
have improved a lot in the past 6 months. I've also written
a bit more on Bidvertiser in my last post :
"Don't let Google Adsense affect your affiliate sales!"

Don't let Google Adsense affect your affiliate sales!

Most people think that monetizing their blogs or sites with
Adsense is the easiest way to make money online.
But wait...
If you're an affiliate marketer (meaning, sell products or
services online), you may not want to place Adsense ads on
your blogs/sites.
Here's why :
Adsense is contextual. Their ads are most likely to compete
with the products/services you sell on your site.
One of the biggest drawbacks with AdSense ads is that you
can't make the ad URL open in a NEW window. That means
that, once someone clicks on your ad, they're immediately
directed off your website! You risk sending your visitors away
from your site before they have a chance to buy your product
... or worse, you might send them right into the arms of your
competitors!
Can't do away with Adsense? Then at least you should take
the following steps to avoid losing your affiliate sales:
1. Ban competitors' URLs. Google allows you to block up to 200
of your competitors' URLs. In this way you can at least reduce
the competition.
2. Avoid placing Adsense on your SALES PAGES.
3. Regularly review your AdSense statistics and site statistics
to monitor AdSense isn't negatively affecting your sales. By
checking your traffic statistics you're able to determine if the
ads are affecting your sales and how long your visitors stay on
your pages, and at what point they leave your site.
Do you know? You can customize Bidvertiser ads to open in a
NEW window! Perhaps you may want to try it out.

Internet Mega Trends - The way I see it

These days more and more people like to use the term 'Mega
Trends' vis-a-vis Internet Business...
...Which refers to : 'Internet Mega Trends'.
Some say social networking is a mega-trend while others include
skill-based online games, blogging, video-based web technology
and a few others.
I see a different scenario....
A 'mega trend' requires two ingredients to qualify:
-The size must be 'mega' or 'huge', or 'gigantic'.
-The 'trend' MUST be something 'on-going', 'last for a long time'
or simply, 'something sustainable'.
So to me, there are only 2 TRUE internet mega trends:
1. Worldwide Broadband Internet-It fuels the growth
of the Internet as you can see from the roll out of the
third-generation wireless networks and DSL in the early 21st
century. This trend will continue to grow rapidly with the new
roll out of the forth-generation wireless broadband, which has
a speed of over 100-megabit, all set to herald the new age of
the Internet.
2. Online Advertising is the next REAL internet mega trend.
Wikipedia definition of Online Advertising:
Online advertising is a form of advertising utilizing the Internet
and World Wide Web in order to deliver marketing messages
and attract customers. Examples of online advertising include
contextual ads on search engine results pages, banner ads,
advertising networks and e-mail marketing, including e-mail
spam.
In fact online advertising has always been the No.1 factor in
determining the success of any online business since the birth
of the internet. No doubt it will continue to 'rule' the internet
world. That's what made the success of Google!
The sole purpose of advertising is to generate more sales which
produce more revenues/incomes, online or off-line.
